About Us
4 Words Foundation, Inc. was founded July 19, 2013 and serves the Southwest Florida community (Charlotte, Lee, Collier Counties). We provide cancer awareness, education and patient financial assistance to those without insurance, or to those with insurance who cannot afford the cost, co-pays, deductibles, or coinsurance required by their health insurance to ensure they receive their cancer screenings, additional imaging, or diagnostic procedures needed for cancer diagnosis.
In March 2016 we extended our reach to the State of Connecticut to assist individuals
in New Haven County with the above assistance as well. Money raised in the individual communities, stays within these local communities.
4 Words Foundation, Inc. is a fully volunteer non-profit. It's officers receive no compensation so that we can ensure that funds raised are utilized to support our mission as fully as possible.
We founded the 4 Words Foundation, Inc. because each of us has been affected by cancer in one way or another. We either were diagnosed with it, know someone who has it, know someone who has survived it, or know someone who died from it.
Below are our stories as to Why We Care:
"Sometimes in our lives things happen to us that either we brush off as unimportant or that open our eyes to the importance of living and giving of ourselves. My eyes, which I considered always wide open, were opened even wider when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I am one of the most fortunate individuals due to my annual mammogram screenings which I schedule like clock work each year. My wonderful healthcare team took quick and decisive action and my prognosis is excellent! During my treatment I met many individuals with many different types of cancer. Some practiced well-care and caught theirs early, others waited until it was too late. I decided that I needed to help raise awareness of the importance of health screenings in the early detection, prevention, and treatment of cancers. Early detection in finding cancer leads to better outcomes.
The HUGS Initiative (Have U Gotten Screened?) was created for two reasons:
1). To bring awareness to as many people as we can about the importance of annual health screenings.
2). It is my way of paying forward the knowledge I've gained in the hopes that I might save just one life." - Marie
